About 30 years ago, I led an effort to have a 4 way stop implemented at Nash and Rundle roads. My young children had to walk to school on the narrow shoulder of a road that people were driving highway speeds on. Clarington Public Works had refused our application and when I made a speech to town council, they wanted to do more studies. Diane Hamre was mayor, and spoke to the council, highly recommending passing our motion, including speaking of her personal experiences with stop signs for slowing traffic flow. We got the 4 way stop, and my children remained safe, thanks to Diane Hamre. I am now also a proud grandfather of 4. Thank you Diane Hamre, for caring about my children's safety!
