FICE, Elwood Alan - 86 of Pontypool Ontario passed away peacefully, Friday March 03, 2017 at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. on Saturday March 11, 2017 at the Pontypool Community Centre, 254 John Street, Pontypool, ON, L0A 1K0
Elwood is survived by his wife Reta of 67 years, Predeceased by Brother Ray Fice, survived by Brother Herman Fice, sons Alan Fice, David (Tracy) Fice, daughter Sandra (Gord) Weir and four loving grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, extended family and many friends.
Elwood was born September 14, 1930 to Wesley and Ida (Fice) Trimble. He was employed by “The” Goodyear in Bowmanville for 36 years, as were his father, brothers and many friends. He retired in 1983.
Elwood was a very hard working man devoted to spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling and attending countless hockey games, practices, soccer, figure skating and baseball of his grandchildren. As well enjoyed attending many Bowmanville Eagle hockey games. After moving to Pontypool he also followed the Lindsay Muskies.
Was a member of the Long Sault Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club in Pontypool and ran the canteen there for several years. Always lending a hand where ever needed as well. He would always have the fire going in the wood stove to heat up the building for the snowmobilers riding by.
After retiring he found enjoyment in making lawn furniture and tending to his hobby farm in Pontypool. He was a proud of the many things he built, especially proud of his family and friends.
He loved the time spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed life to its fullest.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care at Ross Memorial Hospital at the Celebration of life or at Morris Funeral Chapel.
